In an automatic transmission, the "D" stands for Drive, which allows the car to shift through all the gears automatically as it accelerates. On the other hand, "DS" stands for Drive Sport, which is a mode that provides a more aggressive and sporty driving experience. The DS has internal memory for saving game progress, but some games also use save files on the game cartridges themselves. When a player saves their game progress, the data is stored either in the internal memory or on the game cartridge, depending on the specific game. This allows players to continue their game from where they left off, even if they switch game cartridges. **
